Prevent TGE from entering into your herd

November 19, 2009

Use the good performing SVANOVIR® TGEV/PRCV-Ab ELISA

Transmissible gastroenteritis (TGE) is known to be one of the most significant and severe enteric disease in young pigs. Mortality rate might be as high as 20%. In order to prevent TGE from entering into a negative herd, it is important to acquire new animals from a TGE-free source - therefore all new animals should be tested for TGEV antibodies.

The SVANOVIR® TGEV/PRCV-Ab, based on the blocking ELISA technique, has recently been validated with samples from animals with known TGE status and compared to another similar ELISA. The validation concluded that the SVANOVIR® TGEV/PRCV-Ab is a reliable tool for the assessment of TGE status in pigs, differentiating between TGEV and PRCV.
